Day 24: Library Card

As a kid, reading was a punishment. I was forced to read any time that I was in trouble. This is something that caused me to DESPISE reading… My students this year, LOVE reading. A few of them have even expressed to me that this is the first time that they truly have enjoyed reading.

I pretend that I love reading, and my students believe it.

As a teacher, it is my job to make sure that I am pushing my students to be the best versions of themselves. I never would have thought that they would be pushing me to be the best version of myself.

My students have been recommending books to me. I have strongly felt the pressure to read them so that I could form a connection with the students. This year, I have read more books in my free time than I have in the previous year… and I have ENJOYED it.

Today I signed up for a library card. I’m so excited to go to the library tonight.

I would love any recommendations down below!

  1. That is so exciting! I’m so glad your students are sparking your love for reading. A favorite book of mine in the last year is Between Two Kingdoms: A Memoir of a Life Interrupted.

  2. Kudos to you on your new card! Reading is the best. I laughed at this line,
“I pretend that I love reading, and my students believe it.”
